Woke up sore from the exertions of yesterday’s field trip. It was a beastly summer day (temps in the mid-90’s and humidity set to ‘wet woollen blanket’) and even with staying hydrated, it was taxing to be outside and active for 4 hours.
Needless to say, I got a good night’s rest and enjoyed sleeping in. My daughter came in and we had coffee and just talked for a bit, just enjoying each other’s company for an hour or so. To start the day, I showered and then sat for meditation.
About 10 minutes in, the dog came in and must have been standing and wagging his tail, because I heard my daughter come collect him and telling him to be quiet as she led him away. I opened an eye to peek at them, and felt a wave of warm amusement, gratitude, and contentment wash over me. I stopped the breathing exercise portion of the meditation and just basked in the feeling. It was good.
I did go back to the Quareia meditation after a few minutes, returning to the breathing portion before closing the sitting. Still a bit sore (will do some good stretching today) bt in a much better mental state.
