One of my huge black dog friends came to me as soon as I began the mantra today. He sat with me and did not “say” much until I was pretty deeply into trance. Then he looked at me and said, (without opening his mouth) “It is all about death.” Or perhaps that should be Death, with a capital D. A series of scenes unfolded showing me that Death was not simply the Grim Reaper fellow with the dark robes and sickle. Death has many faces; it is the ultimate change. I did not take this as morbid. Rather, I saw began to see the truth in the proverb (from Marcus Aurelius, I think) “Do each act as though it is your last”. I am thinking about how my actions would change if I followed that advice.
